More States to Push Legalization of Sports Betting in 2023
More states are pushing for the legalization of sports betting in 2023. According to the American Gaming Association, sports wagering is legal in 32 states in the US, along with the District of Columbia. Also, it is legal in four states, and they are waiting to launch their sports gambling market.

Legalization of Sports Betting in 2023
Adam Wool, a member of the House of Representatives, presented House Bill 385 in February of 2022. The bill would legalize mobile sports betting in Alaska. However, legislators did not bring the measure up for a vote during the previous session. On January 17, Alaska will begin its next legislative session.

Lastly, Georgia’s legislative session will begin next week. According to gambling news reports, many believe this is the year when a law legalizing sports betting will be ratified. However, even if the Georgia legislature gets the ball rolling on legal sports betting this year, it could not be until 2025 before bettors can do so with confidence.
Georgia requires an amendment to its constitution to legalize sports betting. Thus, it would be up to voters in the 2024 general election to approve the amendment. Once voters approve it, the earliest the state could launch sports wagering would be in 2025.
