Alabama Gambling Debate Intensifies on Casino Locations

State senators engaged in the Alabama gambling debate regarding the five proposed casino locations’ locations. Also, the bill would allow casinos and a lottery in the state. The state senate started its discussion of the bill Thursday. However, Senator Del Marsh would not seek a vote until lawmakers return from their legislative break next week.

Marsh is the sponsor of the bill. Thus, he will work on the legislation next week. Some lawmakers are concerned that their districts were not considered as casino locations. Senator Donnie Chesteen said that the bill left out Dothan.

At present, Dothan has a facility offering bingo games. However, law enforcement shut the place down. Also, the bill would shut down electronic bingo sites. The bill would allow paper and card games to continue.
